Recently, the San Antonio Spurs held their 23rd annual dance competition. SAsports.com would like to congratulate TR Danz Xtreme, Reagan High School, Col. Santos Benavides Elementary, and Roosevelt High School who came in the top five out of 30 teams that entered the contest.
The teams were judged on five different categories as followed:
*Appearance, which consist of uniform/costume, grooming, and costume suitability. Total possible points earned for this part of the judging was 10.
*Choreography, which was divided into seven different sections for a total of 25 point possible points.
- Variety
- Difficulty
- Originality
- Musical Interpretation
- Formations
- Music Selection
- Use of Floor
*Technique/Execution was worth 25 points.
This was made up of:
- Extensions
- Leaps
- Turns
- Control
- Use of prop
- Body Alignment
- Uniformity/Kicks
- Kick Technique
- Transitions
- Posture
*Precision was worth 20 possible points judging on timing, spacing/alignment, and uniformity of movement.
*Showmanship was worth 20 possible points. Judging was based on attitude, poise, projection, audience appeal, focus/eye contact, and energy level.
Special thanks go out to all the teams that took part in the dance competition. Reagan also performed at halftime of the Spurs game to close out the event.
