Tuesday
Tuesday saw Judson jump out early on Lee winning 14 to 1. Madison and MacArthur who have been trailing behind in the district race faced off against each other with the MacArthur girls winning big. Jordan Olivares hit her fourth solo homerun this season. Churchill turned on the bats late in the third inning to come away with a big win against Wagner.
In district 28-5A Clark jumped on Warren early scoring six runs in the first. Marshall held off Holmes in the final inning, while O’Connor beat Stevens 7-0.
District 26-4A NB Canyon stayed perfect in district with the win over Clemens 14-0. Mercedes Bennett struck out ten batters for Steele as she picked up a win over Hays.
Burbank’s Nina Garcia is now tied for 2nd in strikeouts with 111, as she went on to collect a 6-0 victory over Edison. Jefferson and Fox Tech both picked up wins in district 28-4A.
Blanco held off Comfort in district 8-2A with a 5-4 victory.
In non-district play, Keystone’s Nakhilla Mistry hit her third solo homerun as they beat Cornerstone. Dilley and D’Hanis both came away with big wins, as well as Somerset, who had Lauren Villanueva hit her second homerun with two on.
Incarnate Word and Taft both battled back late to pick up their wins over Alamo Heights and Boerne. Harlandale, Medina Valley, McCollum, and South San all came up victorious.
Wednesday
Smithson Valley took control of things, scoring three runs in the 3rd to beat Reagan 9-0. Southwest held off CC Carroll, who scored their only 3 runs in the seventh inning as the Dragons pulled away with a 4-3 win.
Kerrville Tivy, Southside, and Incarnate Word also came up with a win on Wednesday.
Friday
A lot of blow-outs for some big name schools. Smithson Valley handed Judson their first loss in district as they beat them 10-0. Allison Cunningham, Tabby Escareno and Whitney Vick each had three hits for Churchill as they beat Lee 10-0. Wagner scored six runs in the last two innings, but it was not enough as MacArthur came out swinging early; beating Wagner 11-6. Madison scored four in the 2nd as they went on to beat Roosevelt 5-1.
Marshall’s Brianna Sanchez showed us why she leads the city in strikeouts, as she pitched a no-hitter striking out 14 batters in a 1-0 win over Stevens. Mel Padilla of Marshall scored the only run with a triple in the first. Clark’s Victoria Silva, Christina Rodriguez, and Sabrina Garcia all went 2-3, scoring 5 RBI’s between the three, as Clark beat Del Rio 11-3. Holmes beat Warren 8-2 with the help from Melanie Menchaca and Reina Perez who each drove in three runs.
At the SAsports.com Uvalde Softball Tour Stop, the Lobos won big over McCollum 16-0. Mayra Perez struck out seven on the mound, while contributing with the bat as well hitting a double and two singles, which drove in two. Karina Luna also added 4 RBI’s for Uvalde on the night.
Brooke Boening was 3-for-3 with 4 RBI’s as Poth beat Karnes City 17-2. O’Connor scored the winning run on a wild pitch as they beat Reagan 5-4. Amber Sotello had the game winning RBI, as Alamo Heights sneaked by CC Calallen 5-4.
Other big winners on Friday included Burbank, Brackenridge, Jefferson, Southside, Clemens, Taft, NB Canyon, Highlands, Harlandale, Devine, D’Hanis, and Navarro.
