39-29 victory over Bandera puts them one game out of third place

Boerne limited Bandera to 12 points over the first three quarters on their way to a 39-29 victory Tuesday evening at Greyhound Gym.

Bandera came into the ballgame in second place in 30-3A, but struggled mightily with Boerne coach Amy Ruede’s defensive scheme. Boerne (14-16, 4-4 in 30-3A) mixed a press with a 2-3 zone to neutralize the height of Bandera. In the first half, the Lady Bulldogs committed eight fouls and scored only nine points. They also had 20 turnovers compared to 19 field goal attempts.

Greyhounds take big lead, hold on for 53-48 victory over Bandera

Chad Long’s nine first quarter points helped Boerne take a first quarter lead, then Michael Stockton’s fourth quarter free throws helped them keep it as the Boerne Greyhounds defeated the Bandera Bulldogs 53-48 Tuesday night at Greyhound Gym.

Long sank three three-pointers for Boerne in the first quarter; the first two each tied the game, and the third gave the Greyhounds (15-15, 4-2 in 30-3A) their 13-8 first quarter lead. The last two treys were part of a 10-0 run which staked Boerne to a 15-8 lead, which Bandera eventually whittled down to 19-18 on free throws by Derek Draper. Boerne responded with a 9-0 run, including Stockton’s score on an assist from Jackson Miller, putting Boerne ahead by 10 once again.
