The South San Bobcats continued their strong start to their volleyball season by sweeping the Jefferson Mustangs in three sets Wednesday night at the Durbon Center. Vela leads Edison past Jefferson |

Sophomore scores 24 in 53-50 victory
Arty Vela scored 24 points as the Edison Golden Bears pulled into a tie for fourth in district with a nail-biting 53-50 victory over their arch rival Jefferson Mustangs Saturday afternoon at the Alamo Convocation Center.
Vela’s effort helped overcome a terrific performance from Jefferson’s Durron Gadson, who finished with 19 himself.

Edison girls hold share of first |

Bears devour Mustangs in 64-25 victory
Don’t blame Edison coach Angie Alonzo if she was nervous before her team’s game against Jefferson Saturday afternoon.
After all, her team had Parents Afternoon scheduled, and the players would be involved in the ceremonies on the court at halftime rather than in the locker room for instructions and adjustments.
It turned out that Edison led 36-6 at the half, so Coach Alonzo could simply tell her team “keep doing what you’re doing.”
