The Canyon Lake Hawks have made some great improvements since last year, already gaining a win over the Blanco Panthers last Friday.

But Brandeis was up to the challenge, as the Broncos shut out Canyon Lake 29-0 on a rainy Friday night at Farris Stadium.

We picked a good time to have our first SAsports.com Tour Stop at Canyon Lake; this game turned out to be a great one.

Freshman pitcher Missy Romero of Canyon Lake pitched a stellar game…

… as did Katie Yeager of Llano.

Megan Browning concentrates at the plate.

Chelsea Pike gets ready to knock the cover off the ball.

Ashley Magness tries to put down a bunt for the Hawks.

Danielle Delz bats for the Lady Jackets.

This two-out catch by Tiffany Arredondo saved two runs from scoring. Later in the game, she had another run-saving catch in center field.

Llano never gave up…

Out at second…

… safe at third!
In the end, Canyon Lake won this nailbiter 2-1. The Hawks, with no seniors, are now 2-2 in District 8-3A; Llano falls to 1-3.
And I’d like to personally thank the Canyon Lake and Llano fans who came out during spring break to cheer on both teams. Also, thanks to Hawks Softball Coach Melissa Lynch for having us out.

Come this fall, the 3A districts in South Texas will be shaken up considerably.
The new changes, which were released last week, are as follows for basketball, cross-country, volleyball, softball, and baseball:
District 8-3A - Burnet, Llano and Liberty Hill stay in this district, and are joined by Austin Vandegrift and Leander Rouse.
District 29-3A - This district now has Carrizo Springs, Crystal City, Devine, Hondo, Lytle, and Pearsall. Bandera will move to 30-3A, which was an open district, Boerne High School (not to be confused with Boerne Champion), will NOT be in 29-3A as was originally planned.
District 30-3A - This previously open district will have Bandera, Boerne, Canyon Lake, Fredericksburg, Ingram Tom Moore, and Wimberley.
In football, 8-3A will be the same as it was in 2008-2008, with the addition of Leander Rouse. Boerne and Austin Vandegrift will play independent football schedules. 29-3A will be the same as 2008-2009; and 30-3A will be open.
