Richard Trevino named Charlotte AD/HFC

Posted by Jay Tope on July 2, 2009 at 6:20 am

The Charlotte Independent School District didn’t have to go very far in search of a new head football coach and athletic director.

Richard Trevino, who had served as an assistant football coach at Poteet for the past eight years, will be the new man for the job.

Trevino is no stranger to Charlotte, having been an assistant basketball coach for the Trojans in the late ’90’s.

Good luck to everyone on today’s TAKS test!

Everyone here at SAsports.com wishes the best for the freshman, sophomores, and juniors who are taking the TAKS test today. Think positively, eliminate distractions, and success will follow.

God bless you guys!

Pictures from Charlotte Trojans Tour Stop

Posted by Jay Tope on February 22, 2009 at 8:29 am

We had so much fun at the 1st annual Charlotte Trojans Alumni Baseball Game and Home Run Derby yesterday. These pictures are courtesy of Marilyn Roberts: jroberts.bmc@gmail.com . And thanks so much to Coach Will Gates for inviting us out. Hopefully it’s not another seven years before our next Charlotte Tour Stop.

As you can see, the turnout for the alumni team was awesome!

The Charlotte Trojans were not going to go easy on the alumni whatsoever.

But the Alumni has some good pitching as well.

Man, these hamburgers were good!

He’s 62 years old.. and he still drove in a run!

No one was injured in the filming of this documentary…

With a strong wind coming out of the North, it was a good day to be a lefty…

Here’s a very special person. Carlos Cardenas played, despite needing some very serious medical treatment soon. Money was raised to help cover his expenses, and will be raised throughout this next week. Pray for his speedy recovery.

No question; the alumni could hit!

Coach Gates led his team into battle.

Catch him if you can…

See no evil; hear no evil….

The leader of the pack…

Another Trojan pitcher comes on to take out the alumni.

Collision at the plate; I think he was safe…

And while the alumni walked away in victory, there was no doubt that there would be a run on the Ben-Gay supplies in the area stores…

Thanks again, Charlotte, for your hospitality.
