Karnes City’s great basketball season ended last night, as they fell to Hallettsville 83-52 in the area round of the playoffs.

KC’s run might have ended, but we witnessed great sportsmanship after the game as both teams joined together center floor for prayer and the KC players wished their opponent the best of luck as they move on. Both teams were a class act.

… but Falls City crashed the party with an impressive 25-6 win over the Karnes City Badgers Friday night in non-district action. Falls City, ranked in the Top 10 statewide in 1A, moves to 5-0 while the Badgers fall to 4-1 heading into district play next week.

The SAsports.com Tour Stop came to Karnes City for the first time ever on Monday night, just in time for Little League Appreciation Night!

The Badgers entered the game tied with Stockdale for first place in District 28-2A with a 6-1 record. Navarro started the evening in third place, 5-2.

Will Valdez pitched a great game for the Panthers, going extra innings and only giving up one run.

But tonight would belong to Drew Holland of Karnes City, who pitched an 8 inning complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out 12.

Navarro head coach Tommy Knox adjusts his lineup.

Third year head coach Roland Salinas gives his Badgers instructions.

It was a scoreless battle until the bottom of the 8th inning, when Karnes City loaded the bases.

Pitcher Drew Holland helped his cause with the game-winning RBI…

… that sent Nick Pacheco home with the winning run.
Many more pictures are available from the JV and varsity games, plus the little league pictures as well; click on Tony’s link at the top of the page.
