Hey everyone, it’s me Stephanie, and here’s the latest update for the Stacey Eagles.

Basketball season has ended, but it was a season to remember…

The Lady Eagles finished the district season 7-3, tied for second in district 30.  Although we lost a playoff game to Brackett, we still made the playoffs!  This was the first trip to the playoffs EVER for the Lady Eagles …. in fact, no one can remember even having a winning record before.  We use to be happy just winning two games the entire season. It was awesome to be part of the first girls team at Stacey to make it to the playoffs.  We lost our first playoff game to Flatonia, but we will definitely be back.  We have to say goodbye to our seniors Domini and Don’Yelle, good luck ladies.  It really has been fun playing with you both all my years at Stacey and it was great to end it on a winning note for us. Even though we lost in our playoff game our year was a success!!

Lady Eagles All-Distirict Selections
Shana- Offensive MVP
Cordia- First Team
Domini- Second Team
Myself- Second Team
Megan- Fighting Heart award

That’s practically our entire team!

The Eagles cruised through district play undefeated 10-0, and made it to the regional semifinals before losing a tough game to the defending state champions, Thorndale.  This Eagles team went 2 games deeper into the playoffs than any previous team, what a great accomplishment. Playing in their last game for the Eagles were seniors Michael, Vernon and Kanaan. Great job to the guys and good luck to our seniors, you were truly fun to watch. Great job to all our Eagles!!!

Eagles All-District Selections
David- District MVP (it was unanimous)
Michael- First Team
Garrett- First Team
DJ- Second Team
Josh- Second Team

Both teams have a lot of talent coming back, but being a military school we just never know what is in store. So we hope most of us will return.

With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to Mr. Morano (the best photographer ever) as he starts on a new career.  I’m not kidding when I say the entire school will miss him.  Thanks for being there for us, and we all wish you the best.

Sadly, the Eagles won’t be fielding a baseball team this year, not enough players but hopefully next year we can!

Track is picking up. Coach Smith has been working our tails off..  We are small in number, but we will do very well this year.  Everyone is running very well (Joe T., the legs feel better) and expectations are high.  Our first meet of the year will be on the 8th in Harper.  Check back here for details.

Last note..JAY you did such a great job at the games in Austin we hope you can to come to Lackland and do an Eagle game for us next year!!

Until my next column
Eagle pride starts inside!!
